    1. The horns are usually painted as decoration during Mattu Pongal festival to celebrate all cows and bulls that have been helping the people. I guess the colors helped them to identify their cattle pretty easily as well – so, every household/owner paint their own combination.     1. Traditionally cows and bulls are considered sacred and they celebrate Mattu Pongal every year to decorate and worship their cattle. The color combinations have come up to label their own cattle, I guess. Thank you Arati for your appreciative comments. 🙏😊
