I have read a bit about Nepal’s tradition of selecting a Kumari (a living Goddess) for their worship and meeting one of such Kumari was a very soulful and unique experience during my trip to Nepal and Tibet. One of several ways to be in touch with divine I guess. I still remember the vibrant red color that was present and I am glad with this shot that has brought some of that vibrancy.

It’s certainly difficult to comprehend, Sarah; I understand they’re allowing homeschool to the girl and relaxing her life as much possible for modern times.
I think some of them may find it difficult initially to go back to normal life after their puberty, when they’re released from their Kumari status. I understand many of them marry and lead a common life. Certainly intriguing 🙂
I think you caught an infinite sadness too in the baby eyes of this young godness!

Actually, she started playing with her sibling afterwards; it still won’t be a normal life, I guess. Thanks.

It’s an intriguing custom, for sure, Anita. I understand there are such Goddesses in a few places traditionally. Thanks for your comments. 🙂
