Even though this tower was built during Chola period, some of the details might have been modified during the later Nayak Period. The Krishna Leela statues might have been added during the Nayak period.

It was outskirts of the town filled with dwellings of working class people but it occured to someone there to have a statue for one of the greatest modern tamil poet, Mahakavi Bharati, however modest and haphazardly done with the cement, it was still a wonderful sight.
