Interestingly such ritual is common in Hinduism. Vesak Day is also known as Buddha Purnima, a full moon day that marks birth, enlightenment and also death (Final Nirvana) of the Gautama Buddha. Also interesting to see a baby Buddha statue. Both Buddhists and non-Buddhists were performing this ritual.
